A child has to be taught a lot of things. Like how to share. And how to have good manners. But one thing a child is born knowing how to do is how to have fun. There is nothing better than hearing a baby giggle or a young child shriek with laughter.
Everything mom or dad does is worthy of a laugh or two to a young child, yet by the time that child becomes a teenager, he starts thinking that everything mom or dad does is “embarrassing.” And many of the things that she used to love to do, all of a sudden have become “boring.”
It only gets worse as a teenager turns into an adult. The realities of adulthood – like finding and keeping a job, paying bills, raising a family – start to overshadow the desire just to have fun. What a shame.
The problem is that adults often forget to stop and enjoy the moment. To laugh when something is funny. To find joy in the simple pleasures that life has to offer. Perhaps we need to start being more like our children. We need to remember that having fun really is a whole lot of fun!
